Maya 102 – Intro to Maya Texturing for Second Life

Description: This 3 session course sequence is an introduction to the texturing pipeline for using Autodesk Maya with Second Life. We will cover a broad number of topics such as lighting, materials, texture baking, projections and shader components. Several hours of homework will be assigned between sessions.
Session 1: Basic Maya Materials, Lighting, Texture Baking with the Exporter, Render Settings
Session 2: Material Components, Shadows, Working with the Hypershade
Session 3: Procedural Shader Nodes, Projection vs. Standard Mapping, Masking for Compositing
Skill/Course Prerequisites (Recommended): Familiarity with SL building toolset, Maya 101, Moderate facility with Adobe Photoshop
Software/Hardware Requirements: Maya 2009/2010, Abode Photoshop CS2/CS3/CS4, Headset with Mic
