Maya 201 – Skybox Architecture

Session Length: Three 120 minute Sessions, Three 30 minute individual lessons
Cost: 45000 L for the sequence
Description: This 3 session course sequence is a project-based class centered around the design, creation and assembly of a texture-baked cohesive interior environment using Maya for SecondLife. Students will be expected to produce their environment in sync with the class, and will meet once a week with the Instructor to go over specifics of implementation.
Necessary Time Note: Students enrolling in this class should be aware that this course will entail at least 10 hours a week of outside class work at minimum.
Session 1: Design constraints of prim geometry, polygon form construction, design and planning of a space, dual building between platforms.
Session 2: Choosing lighting methodology, AO mass application, using sculpts in architectural work for detailing and their constraints
Session 3: Material selection, creation for the space, UVing issues for SL builds, Baking and Final assembly
Individual Sessions: In depth work review, niche topics related to student work, design consultation.
Skill/Course Prerequisites (Recommended): Maya 152 or facility with sculpt modelling, complex baking in maya
Software/Hardware Requirements: Maya 2009/2010, Turtle 5.x (prefered), Adobe Photoshop, Headset with Mic
